As soon as the trailer of Doctor G dropped, fans of Ayushmann Khurrana showered praises on him. Though his previous two releases, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and Anek, failed to create magic, Doctor G has received a positive response. Ahead of the release, Khurrana exclusively spoke to Bollywood Hungama about his career while sharing an interesting incident.

Interestingly, Khurrana was asked that given his track record, how difficult it becomes for him to say no to projects backed and helmed by big names in the industry. In his response, the actor asserted, “I remember there was one producer who once gave me a blank cheque and said ‘Jitna chahe le lo, teen picture karlo humare saath. Story,script wagera likhte rahenge’.”
The talented actor further added, “I said, ‘Mere liye Laxmi se pehle Saraswati aati hai’. (Saraswati is more important than Laxmi). For me, the script is very important.” Elaborating on the same, he said, “I don’t want to do anything regressive. I know the popular palette is regressive, but I can’t change my mindset like that.”
While calling it his “USP”, the Vicky Donor actor said, “I do films that are progressive. I believe in cinema for change. I always wanted to do unconventional stories, I am fortunate that I am getting those.” He also opened up about working with debutant directors.
The Shubh Mangal Saavdhan actor said, “My entire career is based on risks.” Sharing his experience of working with them, Khurrana said, “First-time directors are more collaborative and are very open in a way. So it’s just easy and fun working with him.”
As mentioned earlier, the 38-year-old actor is gearing up for his next release Doctor G. In the upcoming medical drama, he will be seen essaying the character of a gynaecologist. The ensemble star cast of the film also includes Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah.
